MUSICA vs WRF-Chem
MUSICA Version 0 is a configuration of the CAM-chem global chemistry climate model. This model development takes advantage of the Spectral Element (SE) dynamical core (which is an unstructured grid mesh based on a cubed sphere) which now allows for regional refinement (RR). The initial MUSICA-V0 configuration has a refined grid over the U.S. This configuration is now available in CESM2.2. Please see the MUSICA wiki page for more information.
The MUSICAv0 description and evaluation paper (and Supplement) by Becky Schwantes is in press (May 2022) in the Journal of Advances in Modeling Earth Systems (JAMES) [DOI: 10.1029/2021MS002889].
Currently we are comparing MUSICAv0 with results from WRF-Chem as configured in the NCAR/ACOM near real-time forecasts. Preliminary results will be presented at the 2022 WRF/MPAS User's Workshop and we will provide the link to that presentation here soon afterwards.
