FUNCHEM: Fire UNcertainty in CHemistry Emissions, and Modelling
Dates: 14-15 September 2024 (01:00 UTC to 09:00 UTC),
the weekend immediately following the IGAC Science meeting
Location: Hybrid / Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
In-person registration may be limited to 50 people.

Workshop Goal/Outcome: The international initiatives BBURNED and iLEAPS will host a joint 2-full-day workshop on biomass burning/fires that will be focused on the themes of variability and uncertainty in fire emissions, atmospheric chemistry and processes, and modelling. We aim to identify priority fire uncertainty research questions, discuss preliminary/ongoing science, and kick off a multidisciplinary special journal issue.

Draft Agenda: The workshop will focus on three key areas that currently have large uncertainties:
(Session 1) biomass burning emissions and land processes
(Session 2)  fire plume chemistry, and
(Session 3)  atmospheric modelling of fires.
Each of these topics will have a half day session at the FUNCHEM workshop.  The workshop will also include a half day of 
(Session 4) synthesis discussions, including a relationships with impacts.
