WASPP: Whole Air Sampling Pilotless Platform

Dr. Elizabeth Asher worked with the engineering support group to develop a UAS platform for canister sampling of low altitude locations where it is difficult or impossible to use balloons, towers, or aircraft.  We started with a conceptual design, created multiple versions with the goal of decreasing weight and increasing flight time, developed electrical and mechanical assemblies, and assisted with instrument debugging after fabrication.  The WASPP system has been flown for comparison and testing flights at several locations in Boulder County and Broomfield County.
