Ulrike Niemeier

Dr. Ulrike Niemeier will compare results from her ECHAM model to WACCM, identify differences in the aerosol schemes and uncertainties in the models. There are large uncertainties in the evolution of the sulfur cloud after the injection, e.g. particle size, radiative heating and meridional transport.Therefore, we want to compare the range of radiative forcing in different models produced by the same injections and identify uncertainties, which are caused by aerosol microphysics and meridional transport of the aerosols. Finally, Dr. Niemeier and her ACOM collaborators will also explore how the modeling of plumes can be integrated into a global model.
