Dan Phoenix (U. Oklahoma) will continue analysis and documentation of a WRF-Chem simulation to understand the processes causing ozone wrapping around thunderstorm anvils. He is investigating stratosphere-troposphere exchange of trace gases (water associated with overshooting tops, and ozone wrapping around storm anvils) at the top of mesoscale convective systems. Dan is analyzing WRF-Chem results of one such storm at high resolution (grid spacing 500 m) under the guidance of Mary Barth and Stan Trier (MMM). Besides this work, we will continue working on other WRF-Chem simulations of severe convection of DC3 storms to estimate ozone production and the chemistry producing ozone.
