Explorer Series lecture: What Can Satellites Tell Us About the Quality of the Air We Breathe?

Main content

On August 25, 2021, David Edwards and Helen Worden presented a virtual NCAR Explorer Series lecture: "What Can Satellites Tell Us About the Quality of the Air We Breathe?" Explorer series lectures are targeted for the general audience and require a significant effort to produce, for the scientists and the Education and Outreach staff. This lecture gave an overview of satellite remote sensing of trace gas and aerosol pollution and showed several recent results where satellites have given us an essential perspective on air pollution events and downwind impacts. The virtual event had 54 viewers and led to several questions from the audience. One of the viewers, Prof. Ramesh Singh, Chapman University, CA, requested this talk as a virtual lecture for his undergraduate class on Earth system science and remote sensing.
