Location: National Center for Atmospheric Research, Boulder, Colorado
REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED FOR THIS WORKSHOP - REGISTRATION DEADLINE WAS JULY 16TH, 2018
This NCAR ACOM-organized workshop introduces the fundamentals of atmospheric chemistry and aerosol modeling across different scales (box models, regional, and global models). Renowned atmospheric scientists from the university community and NCAR will teach the science behind atmospheric modeling, covering three main themes; transport, chemistry and aerosols. The workshop will include interactive exercises in smaller groups to promote a better understanding of how specific processes are represented in models. We are targeting up to 40 students, postdocs, early career professors and researchers with a general background in atmospheric chemistry, but not necessarily in modeling.
Lecturers
Mary Barth, National Center for Atmospheric Research
Guy Brasseur, National Center for Atmospheric Research

Activities
Workshop participants will form groups on the first day, designed to encourage interactions between participants. Each group will be asked to choose a science question. During the workshop the groups will explore which model and configuration would be best to answer that question. Each group will present its conclusions in the final session and write a summary.
Travel Support
Limited travel support is available for attending the Workshop. Preference will be given to early career scientists and attendees from emerging scientific communities. Travel support can be requested for travel within the US and accommodation. For additional questions, please contact Bonnie Slagel.
Registration
Registration is open until July 16, 2018.
